Abdul-Aziz Garuba is a creative and charismatic finance professional with a flair and passion for transformation. He is a Manager, Finance at RBC Wealth Management where he provides value added advice on business performance and management reporting, forecasting, planning and analysis, and strategy. He is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CMA) and Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) with experience in both public and private sectors domestically and internationally.

Aziz holds a Masters of Business Administration from Smith School of Business (Queen’s University) and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Telfer School of Management (University of Ottawa).

Jenelle Ambrose is a lawyer with Dentons Toronto’s risk management team. She advises colleagues in connection with claims against the firm, conflicts of interest, the rules of professional conduct generally, and other matters of professional responsibility and risk management.

Jenelle also practised in Dentons Banking and Finance group, where her practice involved representing domestic and foreign financial institutions in various commercial, lending and secured transactions.

Nadine has spent forever on Bay Street, working in Equity Research, Investment Management and Finance. She is a CFA charterholder and has a Master of Finance degree from Rotman School of Management. Nadine is active in the community and her charitable endeavors are centered around women & children and education. She joined the CAUFP board in 2013. She is currently a Director of Finance at RBC Wealth Management.

RUMIE IGHOFOSE

Associate at Connor, Clark and Lunn

Rumie is a vibrant and young financial professional with excellent work ethic and an unquenchable drive for success. She has garnered over 3 years of financial services experience through professional and several volunteer positions. In these positions, she was afforded the opportunity to serve clients and employers from various cultural backgrounds with diverse needs. She previously worked as an Account Manager for the global bank HSBC where she assisted high net worth clientele with all aspects of their retail banking needs. After a couple of years of retail banking, she transitioned into Institutional Asset Management where she currently works as an Associate for one of the largest Institutional firms in Canada – Connor, Clark & Lunn Financial Group.

EDWARD JOHNSON

Technology Management Professional

Edward Johnson is an experienced technology executive with a wide international background having led multiple teams, projects and operations in the banking sectors the US, UK, Germany, Asia and Switzerland

He currently runs his consultancy where he delivers entrepreneurial advice and mentorship services to startups, corporates and non-profits.

Edward is passionate about innovation and helping people to continually develop themselves for the challenges of now and the future.
He holds a BSc (honours) in Chemical Engineering/Business, a Postgraduate diploma in Business Administration from Warwick Business School, as well as a PMP designation and a Fintech certification from MIT.

MARIO GRIFFITHS

Trust Management Associate at TD Bank

Mario is currently an Associate within the TD Management Associate Program. Mario began his career as a part-time teller at TD working at more than 10 branches throughout the GTA.

Being a former recipient of the Excellence Award, awarded by the Toronto Police 13 Division for outstanding service and contributions as a volunteer, Mario is deeply committed to giving back to his community. Outside of CAUFP, Mario is a member of TD’s Financial Education Committee and an active volunteer for Junior Achievement and several other smaller organizations in his community.

DARREN JORDAN

DIRECTOR, MEMBERSHIP & ANALYTICS

Project Manager at Titika Active Wear

Darren is an experienced manager with a background in Mathematics and Statistics. He currently works as an Analyst of Insights and Analytics at a Canadian Athletic Wear company where his responsibilities include customer acquisition and retention in US and Canadian markets. Previously, he was a manager at Abercrombie and Fitch in Toronto where he oversaw store operations. Darren is also an avid investor and follows the markets religiously.

MELANIE WATTS

DIRECTOR, BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

Assistant Corporate Controller at Anaconda Mining Inc.

Melanie Watts currently works as an Assistant Corporate Controller with Anaconda Mining Inc. Anaconda Mining Inc. was named one of the fastest growing companies in Canada on the 2016 PROFIT500 list and was also awarded the 2016 Miner of the Year by CIM. In her role, Melanie is responsible for accurate, timely and relevant financial reporting; and most recently successfully project managed the implementation of a human resource management system across the company.

Melanie is a 2016 Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) Candidate and has previously held leadership positions as the Treasurer, Rotaract Club of Toronto and President, King Street Speakers Toastmasters Club (now called 1 for U KSS Club). Prior to her career in the financial services industry, Melanie was a Suzuki music violin teacher and an on-air radio announcer.

MICHAEL THORPE

Michael is first and foremost a people person and is dedicated to promoting economic development and financial literacy among Canadians and within his community. Michael holds a Master’s of Science in Planning and worked in the Real Estate Development industry for four years before deciding to take on a service-oriented role that educates and empowers individuals and families.

In his second year as a Financial Advisor with Sun Life Financial, Michael has established a successful business working with families, professionals and business owners to gain a firm understanding of their finances. Michael enjoys his work because of the strong relationships he has built and brings his passion for building relationships to help facilitate CAUFP’s growth, expand their reach in the financial industry and continue to add value for their members.
